The latest Pokemon TCG set is out, kicking off a brand new generation of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. There are many great cards to collect and here are ten of the best.

ARVEN, Illustration rare

At number ten is an Illustration rare Arven trainer card. This card is listed as number 249 in the set and is considered a special illustration rare card.

Beautifully illustrated by artist Kantar, this card shows Arven preparing a table for his furry friend Mabosstiff: Arven even makes a brief appearance on Mabosstiff's own illustration rare card. Arven features prominently in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet as your Path of Legends story guide. His caring personality and the love he has for his Pokémon are perfectly captured in this incredible trainer card.

Currently, the ARVEN Illustration rare card is sold for around 14 euros . (the price is as of 4/7/2023)

KORAIDON EX, SECRET RARE

Next, there is the first appearance of one of the legendary Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Specifically, this card features an exclusive Koraidon. Koraidon EX Secret Rare is considered hyper rare and is number 254 in the set.

This is the fourth version of Koriadon EX in the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet core set, and it's not the last time the Legendary will appear on this list. The secret rare version of Koraidon belongs to a small subset of hyper-rare cards with gold edges and foil effects, marking them as some of the rarest cards in the entire set. In particular, the Koraidon card uses the same pose and composition as the Full Art Koraidon EX card, only now with a shiny gold finish.

Currently, the KORAIDON EX SECRET RARE card is sold for around 20 euros . (the price is as of 4/7/2023)

PENNY, Illustration rare

In eighth place we have another Alternative Art trainer card, this time featuring shy Eevee and loving Penny. Penny's Alternative Art card is number 252 in the set and is another rare illustration.

Like Arven's Alt Art card, Penny's special card has a special way of translating her personality from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Illustrated by the talented OKACHEKE, Penny's Alternative Art captures her softer side, depicting her sitting quietly in one of the Academy's classrooms, basking in the sunset of another long day. It's one of the most underrated cards in the entire set, especially compared to some of the other Alternative Art cards Scarlet and Violet, but that's what makes it so desirable.

Currently, the card PENNY, Illustration rare is sold for around 15 euros . (the price is as of 4/7/2023)

Great TUSK EX, Illustration rare

The next card on our list is the first appearance of the Alt Art Pokémon card, arguably the most sought after card category in all of the Pokémon TCG. The Pokemon SV TCG has a total of 6 Pokemon alternate art cards and 4 of them are on this list. Number 246 is the Illustration rare version of Great Tusk EX.

This card is somewhat related to another Paradox version of Donphan, Iron Treads. Both cards represent Trap and Paradox Pokémon in the Paldean Desert, where they are first found in the game. Especially with Great Tusk, we can observe a gifted illustration captured by Ms. Kobayashi, where it perfectly encapsulates the primal energy of the Past Paradox Pokémon, as Great Tusk stands alone, undaunted by the desert storm swirling around it.

At the moment, the card Great TUSK EX, Illustration rare is sold for around 25 euros . (the price is as of 4/7/2023)

MIRIAM, FULL ART

Completing the first half of the list of the best Pokemon Scarlet and Violet TCG cards is our first (and only) Full Art Trainer card. The number 6 spot belongs to the Full Art version of Miriam, an ultra rare card that is number 238 in the set.

Illustrated by Sanosuke Sakuma, Miriam's Full Art card is another one that manages to capture her playful personality in a single image. From the vibrant colors to the vibrant pose and framing, Miriam's Full Art joins a long list of other fantastic Full Art cards that collectors and players around the world want to have in their collections.

Currently, the MIRIAM, FULL ART card is sold for around 25-27 euros . (the price is as of 4/7/2023)

MIRAIDON EX, SECRET RARE

At the top of the top 5 list is the Secret Rare Miraidon card. This hyper-rare card is number 253 in the set and has a lot of similarities to the Koraidon Secret Rare we discussed earlier.

Again, the gold edges and finish mark this card as one of the few Secret Rare cards in this set. Like the Koraidon card, the Miraidon here is in the same pose as the Full Art Miraidon card (which is also one of the most valuable cards in the Scarlet and Violet TCG). One of the advantages that Miraidon has over Koraidon is its usability, as several decks have already emerged that make fantastic use of Miraidon's tandem unit ability.

Currently, the MIRAIDON EX, SECRET RARE card is sold for around 25-28 euros . (the price is as of 4/7/2023)

KORAIDON EX, Illustration rare

Fourth on the list is Koraidon again, only this time it's an alternate art version of the Scarlet Legendary. From this point on, all cards will be presented with alternate art versions of their original variants, a special illustration rare given their rarity. Koradion Alternative Art is number 247 in the set.

Illustrated by Ryota Murayama, the art depicts Koraidon being chased through the lush jungle of the ancient past. The Legendary is joined by a cute little Dedenne running through the dense foliage while the Scarlet Paradox Pokémon stands on the edge and sits at the height of its power. This is a beautiful card that perfectly shows the differences between Koraidon and Miraidon and that any collector will love.

Currently, the KORAIDON EX, Illustration rare card is sold for around 55 euros . (the price is as of 4/7/2023)

GARDEVOIR EX, Illustration rare

The top three includes one of the most anticipated cards of the entire set, Illustration rare Gardevoir EX. This card is number 245 in the set.

This card, along with the illustration rare variants of Raltza and Kirlie, caused quite a stir before the release of the Pokemon SV TCG. All three cards were illustrated by the immensely talented Jiro Sasumo, who managed to condense the short story of Gardevoir and their family into three cards. Each one is gorgeous and full of detail that carries over from card to card, and the Illustration rare Gardevoir is a highlight. It deserves its place as one of the best cards in the deck.

Currently, the card GARDEVOIR EX, Illustration rare is sold around 55-58 euros . (the price is as of 4/7/2023)

MIRAIDON EX, Illustration rare

Miraidon EX returns to claim the silver medal for the Scarlet and Violet TCG core set. This time it is the Illustration rare version of Miraidon EX, the card number is 244.

Just as the Illustration rare Koraidon card perfectly represented Pokemon's Past Paradox, Alt Art Miraidon does the same for the future. Bathed in futuristic neon lights and patrolling an almost cyberpunk city, the Miraidon hovers gracefully and is joined by a nearby Daschbun.

Currently, the card MIRAIDON EX, Illustration rare is sold for around 70 euros . (the price is as of 4/7/2023)

MIRIAM, Illustration rare

Last but certainly not least is the most expensive card in the entire Pokémon Scarlet and Violet TCG set: Illustration rare Miriam.

While her Full Art card showed her playfulness, Miriam's Illustration rare card shows her more clumsy side as she fiddles with a large pile of papers and books. The style of this card is probably one of the biggest reasons why it's such a hit: between the pop art approach, the cute pastel palette, and even the Pikachu in the corner of the card. This card is incredibly pleasant and one of the most beautiful in the entire set.

Currently, the card MIRIAM, Illustration rare is sold for around 89 euros . (the price is as of 4/7/2023)
